Chief of Maintenance

Description:

Responsible for all maintenance, repairs, improvements, construction and necessary related work on GSI and concession facilities in a manner consistent with the expectations of both the National Park Service and Guest Services, Inc.

Responsible for maintaining a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) meeting the expectations of the National Park Service and GSI.

Duties:

Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards.

Remains aware of and ensures safety protocols are adhered.

Promote Career Development and Workplace Diversity.

Schedules staff work shifts and assigns tasks/projects to staff.

Estimates job materials and labor and associated cost.

Procures and maintains adequate stock of necessary materials and parts to efficiently meet position responsibilities. 

Maintains sufficient repair parts and consumable material inventory in support of operations.

Provides technical direction to maintenance staff in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, automotive, and building systems preventative maintenance, repairs, and operation.

Prepares annual budget.

Maintains, controls, and issues tools furnished by Guest Services to maintenance personnel for the performance of their respective duties ensuring proper training in use.

Maintain documentation and files as it pertains to preventative maintenance, cyclic maintenance, and purchase orders.

Directs the North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin safety program and advises managers and supervisors in all matters regarding adherence to safety and OSHA standards.

Performs other related duties as directed or required.

 

Qualifications:

High school graduate plus trade school or college preferred. 

Trade knowledge in either Electrical / HVAC / Refrigeration / Plumbing required. 

Snow load mitigation with an understanding of snow loads and removal techniques.

Five years maintenance experience with an understanding of historic preservation           requirements.  Supervisory/management experience.

 

Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively.  Must be able to write legibly as well as read and understand directions and instructions.  Appearance must be in compliance with company guidelines.

Will be required to perform diverse physical tasks.  Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, and perform repetitive motions.  Extensive walking and stair climbing.  Good physical energy, stamina, and agility.  Must be able to navigate tight crawl spaces.  Exposure to wet floors occurs.  Must be able to work in cold, icy or snowy conditions.  Must be able to work on a ladder and above shoulder height.  Must be able to lift 50 pounds periodically.  Must be able to work weekends and be on-call.

Must be service and safety oriented.  Must possess a sense of awareness, timeliness, urgency, humor, and common sense.  Must live in local community or on-site.  Must be able to adapt to the isolation of the Stehekin community.
